Hospice of Marshall County Leadership

Rhonda Osborne, CEO of Hospice of Marshall County, currently serves as the President of the Alabama Hospice Organization (AHO).
AHO is a professional organization whose mission is to be the unified voice of hospice care for the state of Alabama. AHO serves as an advocacy-based organization for its members and provides educational guidance to help its members comply with all industry regulations. This professional organization also works cooperatively with the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Alabama Medicaid agency, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and state and local government leaders to support ethical, compassionate and appropriate hospice care. |

Osborne has served on the AHO State Board of Directors since 1993, participating as chairperson of the Bylaws Committee, chairperson of the AHO Education Committee, the 1996 State Conference Committee, Registration Chairperson for the 1997 State Conference, Palliative Care Task Force, and most recent years on the Executive Committee. She developed the 1994 Directory of AHO Hospice Providers for the State of Alabama. In May 1997, she represented Alabama hospices in Washington, DC, while meeting with various Alabama legislators on Capitol Hill regarding Medicare legislation affecting hospice care.
Osborne is also active in the Hospice Alliance of Alabama. She has served as vice-president and president, on the standards Committee and currently serves on the Board of Directors. She is a member of the Council of Hospice Professionals and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, having published an article in the national newsletter in regard to study groups for rural hospice nurses preparing for the Hospice Nurses Certification Exam.
Osborne began her employment with HMC in 1989 years ago as a staff nurse and has served as CEO since 1995. She has successfully completed the National Hospice Administrator Program. |

Dr. J. Russell Robinson, Hospice of Marshall County's Medical Director is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications, Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Robinson began his affiliation with Hospice of Marshall County in 1995 as a volunteer and was named Medical Director in 2006. Based on a data supplied by the American Board of Family Medicine, there are only 345 physicians with this particular certification in the United States.
Board Certification is a process by which doctors are regularly tested in their knowledge of diseases and skill in clinical care to ensure they are keeping up with the latest advances in healthcare. In addition to educational requirements, the certification involves a rigorous, day-long test that covers all aspects of Hospice and Palliative Care. Certification is a voluntary commitment and demonstrates medical excellence. |
Dr. Robinson has a private practice in Boaz, Alabama. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the College of Community Health Sciences Department of Family Medicine at The University of Alabama. He is an EPEC trainer and has served in leadership positions in numerous boards and committees at Marshall Medical Center South. |
